New York - Day 2, Part 2

All that was left from day two, were some night time shots.  Turns out these are some of my favourites though.
The picture below is of the historical Helmsley Building.  What's interesting is that Park Ave actually goes through the building as you can see at the bottom.  As we walked onto Park Ave I stopped to take this photo as the building was beautifully lit up, and as I lowered my camera it went completely dark.  I'm not sure why it was lit up at that exact moment, but it worked out perfectly for me.  My favourite part about this photo though is the couple walking arm in arm towards the building who also happened to be passing through the light of a street lamp when I took the shot.

As I mentioned in part one, we ended the day with a trip to The Top of the Rock, something I had wanted to do after dark in order to get a full view of the size of the city.  The next two shots are the view from Rockefeller looking North towards Stanley Park with the George Washington Bridge in the background.

And looking South West towards the Hudson.

Backpacking the Burn

I spent the weekend on a trip with a couple of friends and our dogs, backpacking the Marble Range.  These are the first batch from the trip.  We spent the first night at the Big Bar Lake Provincial Campground.

New York - Day 2, Part 1

We probably covered the most ground on day two, the day we explored Midtown Manhattan, so I've split this one up. The pictures below are kind of out of order.  We started by checking out the Empire State Building (but passed on going up).  Then found the beautiful little cafe pictured below for breakfast.  From there we checked out the New York Public Library, or at least the outside, we couldn't find a way in! We then checked out Times Square, and Broadway, a huge street market, and then saw the final showing of Bullets Over Broadway.  Afterwards we went on a mission to find some dinner, and ended the day with drinks in front of Rockefeller Center before heading to the 'Top of The Rock' for stunning night time views of the city.
