Brandywine Meadows

I think I need to make a new years resolution to do a better job at editing and sharing my photos. These photos were actually taken in September 2016, and I can't believe it took me so long to get to them. They were taken on the Brandywine Meadows trail near Squamish, BC. We went up on a beautifully foggy day, the wild blueberry leaves were turning to their fall reds (but the berries were still delicious to eat). I hope to make it back there one day with more time to explore.

Tiny Velvet Hippos

It's been a very long time since I have posted any photos, and that is because it has been a very long time since I have been able to edit photos. And that isn't to say that I haven't been taking photos, because that I have, very, very, many photos. To make up for my absence here is a very big post of the most beautiful puppies I think I've ever known.
This litter have all been adopted into loving homes already, but I couldn't not share these beauties with the world. The litter was known as the Tiny Velvet Hippos, and there were a whopping 12 of them. These little Bully Babies were adopted out by the Victoria BCSPCA. Due to the summer long state of emergency brought on by the wild fires in British Columbia, rescues such as the SPCA are taking on extra animals (and costs) all over the province. Please consider donating time, money, or supplies to your local shelters to help out animals like these.

Dog Days of Summer

During the summer we like to get lots of swimming in, and so does Charlie's best buddy Hugo. I took my camera out one evening for a buddy swim. As you can see, Hugo is a pro dock diver, unlike Charlie. Maybe she'll get it next summer.

Little Cricket

When you're raising a puppy it can be easy to miss how much they're growing and changing every day. I went to upload the photos from my camera, which I haven't done in several months, and I was shocked to see just how tiny (and less fluffy) Cricket was just two months ago when we brought him home. He doesn't even recognize himself! He barked at the photo on the screen when I was editing it.

Hoh River to Third Beach - Olympic National Park

Back in June 2016 my big brother came out from Alberta to visit the Island. He wanted to get into backpacking and was hoping we could go out on a coastal trip. I'd been wanting to explore the Olympic Peninsula, so we settled on a portion of the South Coast Trail called Hoh River to Third Beach. The trail is beautiful beach walking mixed with some hard core obstacle course ropes and ladders negotiating muddy cliffs to overland trails. If you are looking for sea stacks this hike definitely delivers. We've started talking about doing another trip this summer and I can't wait!
